Fly Fishing in the Catskills

I got a chance to compile some pictures and video from the past season.  Accompanying me in most of it is my good friend, Brandon Alexander of Catskill Fly & Float, who guides in the Catskills.

Hope you enjoy

First snowfall in PA

With the holidays right around the corner, its only natural that we are getting our first snowfall in Philadelphia.  While I haven't been able to make a trip up to the Salmon River for steelhead, I have been busy at the fly tying bench.  It's always interesting to look at your boxes at the end of the season to see what worked, what will be replenished, and what will be subject to removal.  I've been busy tying up the usual pheasant tails, hare and coppers as well as a number of new Acetate Floss nymphs.  I'll post some pictures later, as well as a review / comparison of the Greys 10' 3 wt. Streamflex and the brand new Orvis 10' 4 wt. Access.  Both should be arriving any day now.

Hand Tied Fly Fishing Boutonnieres!

These beautiful hand tied boutonnieres are perfect for weddings, proms and any other special occasion.  They're the same ones that I used on my wedding day and are perfect for the fly fisherman (or non fly fisherman) in your life.

The boutonnieres are hand tied on floral wire and bound with floral tape, and behave exactly like a live piece.  Better yet, they won't look flat at the night's end and last forever.  I offerer 3 sizes (more pictures to come soon): large boutonnieres (shown) work well for grooms and groomsmen, although many people opt for the medium size for their groomsmen & fathers of the bride and groom.  We are now offering a small size which is perfect for little kids as well as ushers if you choose.  You won't be disappointed at the quality of these pieces, the feathers are not glued on or made in a factory.  I personally tie in each feather to ensure that quality is consistent and each one is truly unique.

If you're ordering 4 or more, please contact me for discount pricing.  Any order over $100 ships for free.

You can order these on the the Shop page or contact me for custom options.  We can incorporate different colors and materials to ensure that they are exactly what you want.

Thanks for looking,

Salmon Report No. 1

Over the course of our three day trip, we greatly smoothed out our learning curve.  Hookups increased each day and my buddy even managed to land a few.  Mostly kings, but I did manage a brown and one in the group hooked into a nice steelhead.  Here are some pics of Brandon Alexander of Catskill Float & Fly with some of what he tied into.  Tight lines!

Salmon are on the move

Heading up for a 3 day fishing / camping trip with a couple of fishing buddies.  We'll be fishing the annual salmon run in Pulaski, NY.  Reports are that salmon are starting to come into the river in small pods.  The rain and overhead conditions are scheduled to last until Friday, and should help a good number of fish to move into the river.  We'll have more to come.
